County officials are considering an investment that commissioner Todd Hanks thinks could make Delaware County the “Silicon Valley” of Ohio.
That investment is fiber-optic wire, capable of delivering high-speed Internet service 1,000 times faster than a regular broadband connection such as TimeWarner’s Roadrunner service.
Fiber is considered by some — along with water, sewer, and electricity — to be the “fourth utility” necessary to attract businesses and promote economic development, Hanks said.
“We have to start investing in our future like how a parent invests in a child’s educational future...”
