The signals beaming from every direction are imperceptible. Most have grown unconscious to the dull electronic buzz of a million tiny machines swarming any warm outlet. Note scores of students filing past with mp3 players plugged into one ear, cell phones attached to the other. All on the same strip of sidewalk, each alone in their individually customized electronic universe.
Ten years ago, "Free Wi-fi" was unheard of; now it's a necessity to stay competitive with other businesses on campus...
