AT&T is working to position itself as the top U.S. smartphone provider.
"We've taken integrated devices mainstream," AT&T chief marketing officer David Christopher said in a statement. He said that nearly one third of AT&T's postpaid customers use smartphones, and in March, the operator led competitors with 11.8 million smartphone users, according to M:Metrics.
