Well known as a virtual venue for games and activities ranging from university lectures to sex play, Second Life is increasingly being sold by San Francisco parent company Linden Lab as a powerful multimedia platform for sensitive corporate communications and teamwork. The courting of companies comes at a time of renewed growth for 6-year-old Second Life that began with the appointment of Mark Kingdon as CEO of Linden Lab in May 2008.
