nTelos increases fiber optic network

Waynesboro-based nTelos announced plans Monday to almost double its fiber optic network and take in an additional 100,000 customers.
The telecommunications company will buy FiberNet from One Communications Corp. for $170 million, said nTelos spokesman Mike Minnis.
The move will add 3,500 miles of fiber optic lines to the company’s network, which now runs about 4,500 miles.
